Five marketing fundamentals

Start with the basics to grow your audience and expand your digital presence.

Digital marketing is a vast and ever-changing landscape, and it can be difficult for businesses and nonprofits to keep up. However, by focusing on five core fundamentals, you can create a strong foundation to help you stay ahead of the curve.

Let’s take a look!

Content marketing

Content marketing is not new, but it continues to be an essential part of digital marketing. Content marketing is the creation and distribution of valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience.

Different types of content include:

  • Blog posts
  • Articles on other websites
  • Infographics
  • Ebooks

Content marketing can take many different forms and live on multiple platforms. You can engage potential customers and build trust with your brand by creating high-quality content.

Some of the other fundamentals we’ll get into below are types of content marketing, but not all of them.

Video marketing

Video has been on the rise for the last few years. Video content is one of the most popular trends in digital marketing, and for good reason. People love watching videos, and they’re a great way to communicate your message in a concise and visually appealing way. If you’re not already using video marketing, now is the time to start!

Social media marketing

Not surprisingly, social media is an essential part of any digital marketing strategy. By utilizing social media, you can connect with your audience, provide valuable content, and build relationships with potential and current customers. Go where your customers already are, and connect with them there!

Search engine optimization

If you want it to be easy for potential customers to find you, search engine optimization—SEO—is a must. Search engine optimization is the process of optimizing your website for search engines like Google with the goal of improving where and how you show up in the results. By optimizing your website and content for search engines, you can improve your visibility online and reach more potential customers.

An SEO strategy may include blogging, technical SEO, and more.

Email marketing

Email has been around longer than the web, and it is a tried-and-true digital marketing strategy that can be used to reach your target audience. By sending targeted emails, you can build relationships with potential and current customers and promote your products or services.

Bonus: Don’t forget your website

Your website is your most important digital asset, so be sure to invest in it accordingly. Make sure your website is mobile-friendly, fast, and easy to navigate. Of course, fill it with high-quality content to help you achieve your marketing and business goals.

By following these digital marketing trends, you’ll be well on your way to marketing success!
