Businesses and professionals in Edmond nominate their peers every November for the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Community Awards. These nominations are then discussed and reviewed by multiple committees of Chamber members and volunteers. This year’s winners were honored on February 15th at the 2021 Annual Awards Banquet.

The eight awards are given to local businesses and professionals whose contributions make an impact on the Edmond community.

“Edmond is fortunate to have citizens who go above and beyond for the community,” said Edmond Chamber President and CEO Sherry Jordan. “We are thrilled to recognize these individuals and businesses who have made a difference in our city.”

Individual achievements

The Citizens Bank Citizens of the Year award went to Greg and Darci Oplotnik. The Oplotnik family fostered 12 children from 2004 to 2009. Darci has also served the foster care community through Anna’s House Foundation, an Edmond-based private foster care non-profit. Darci currently serves as a board member at Anna’s House Foundation and she served as the Executive Director from 2012 – 2017.

Businesses going beyond

Moore Quality Homes was honored with the RCB Bank‘s Philanthropic Business of the Year award as having made significant philanthropic contributions to Edmond. Applicants for this award are judged on the extent of services provided and the commitment shown over time to the Edmond community. Moore Quality Homes supports Edmond Public Schools, Edmond Youth Athletics, the Edmond YMCA, Turkey Trot, Turning Point Ministries, the Metro Library Association, Arcadia Lake, Edmond Mobile Meals, and the Downtown Edmond Business Association. Owner/Operator Josh Moore also takes time out of his business to serve Edmond as the City Council member to Ward 2.

The First United Bank Small Business of the Year was awarded to BeSpoke Vision. Several criteria are used to determine this award, including community involvement, professional or trade association activity, equal opportunity employment, and owner involvement in the day-to-day management of the business. BeSpoke Vision is owned by Dr. Selina McGee and was formally Precision Vision Edmond before moving to their new location on Covell Rd.

The 2021 Chairman’s Award was given to Sherry Jordan for her outstanding service and commitment to the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce. Sherry is the President and CEO of the Chamber. She has worked at the Chamber for 18 years and was promoted to her current position in 2016.
