Tax collections for Fiscal Year 2021-2022

Tax collection data is now available for the City of Edmond’s Fiscal Year 2021-2022. Financial reports released by the City focus specifically on the two percent of collections that go directly into the General Fund, the primary operating fund for City services. In FY 21-22, sales tax collections totaled $43,700,141. This equals a year-to-date change of 8.41% over the $40,309,186 collected in FY 20-21. The largest single-month year-to-date change occurred in April 2022, when collections increased 19.21% over the same month in 2021.

EEDA shares 2022 Economic Abstract

The Edmond Economic Development Authority recently released the 2022 Edmond Economic Abstract. The 10-page economic profile, published annually by the EEDA and sponsored by Francis Tuttle Technology Center, contains demographic information including population, income levels, cost of living, crime figures, traffic counts and more. The 2022 Economic Abstract also features information on Edmond’s residential and commercial real estate markets, tax collections, and education information.

EEDA hosts Economic Preview

The Edmond Economic Development Authority recently held the 2022 Economic Preview, sponsored by First Fidelity Bank. The EEDA has held the Economic Preview annually for the last 25 years. Originally, the event was a half-day seminar-style event with speakers from various sectors providing end-of-year updates as well as forecasts for the year ahead. Attendees were also provided the much anticipated Preview binder with print outs of all reports submitted from all the speakers. The event was a chance to receive useful and timely information that wasn’t readily available through many other sources.

The e-newsletter also includes a featured Edmond business each month. The featured business portion of The Arrow was created as an outlet for the EEDA to further support and promote the Edmond business community.

Edmond, Oklahoma’s cost of living

An interesting and fun tool that the EEDA provides access to is the Council for Community and Economic Research’s Cost of Living Calculator. The calculator provides comparisons of prices across product categories. This information comes from the Cost of Living Index, which measures regional differences in the cost of consumer goods and services and is based on more than 90,000 prices covering 60 different items for which prices are collected quarterly by various organizations in participating areas.

Edmond’s monthly sales tax update

Edmond continues to see positive sales tax activity. Sales tax collections for the month of July totaled $6,776,529. Annual year‐to‐date sales tax collections for 2021 total $45,052,276, which is a nine percent increase over the same period in 2020.
