In a significant leadership shakeup to enhance and uplift local real estate operations, the Oklahoma Association of REALTORS® (OAR) announced Edmondite Bryan Hutchinson as its new Chief Executive Officer in February. With a robust background in real estate, including stints as the CEO for associations in New Jersey and Texas, Hutchinson is poised to drive OAR forward amid evolving market dynamics.

Upon his appointment, Hutchinson, fondly known as “Hutch,” highlighted his commitment to leveraging his extensive experience for the betterment of over 14,000 realtor members across Oklahoma. “My mission is to foster an environment that not only supports our Realtors but also enhances the integrity and professionalism of our industry,” Hutchinson expressed.

Building for the future: OAR’s new headquarters

The new CEO’s arrival comes at a transformative time for OAR, which is currently developing a new headquarters in Oklahoma City. This 13,350-square-foot facility will feature modern offices, event spaces, and a recording studio for the association’s podcast, “Talking Real.” Scheduled for completion in mid-2024, the headquarters aims to be a cornerstone for regional real estate professionalism.

Strategic initiatives and advocacy

Hutchinson is particularly focused on several strategic initiatives designed to bolster the real estate market’s stability and growth. “We are actively involved in shaping legislation that impacts property rights and homeowner access to essential services like flood insurance and fair mortgage options,” he explained. His leadership is set to enhance OAR’s influence on policy decisions at both state and national levels, ensuring that the interests of realtors and homeowners alike are well represented.

Moreover, Hutchinson’s strategic vision extends to elevating the ethical standards within the industry. He emphasized the importance of distinguishing realtors from general real estate agents, underscoring a commitment to ethics and professional development. “It’s about more than transactions; it’s about fostering a community of professionals who value integrity and accountability,” he noted.

As Hutchinson settles into his role, members and stakeholders eagerly anticipate his influence on OAR’s direction. With a clear focus on advocacy, professionalism, and community engagement, his leadership is expected to invigorate the association’s initiatives, ensuring that Oklahoma remains at the forefront of real estate innovation and ethical practices.

A new home for the Hutchinsons

Hutchinson’s relocation to Edmond with his wife Karen and their dog Otto marks a new chapter for his family and the community he now serves. He expressed particular enthusiasm for Edmond’s vibrant outdoor life, citing the area’s walking trails, parks, and the iconic Route 66 corridor as significant draws. “Edmond’s blend of accessible urban amenities and scenic landscapes makes it an ideal place for our family and a fantastic stage for the next era of growth in Oklahoma real estate,” he said.
