MIDCON celebrates 30 years

MIDCON Data Services recently celebrated 30 years in business by doing what they do best: giving back to the community.

While the last couple of years may have different percentages, according to data released by the Bureau of Labor, about 20% of businesses don’t make it past their first year, and only about 30% of businesses will survive past their 10th year in business.

MIDCON Data Services, an Edmond-based company started by Randy Allen in 1991, has made it much longer. In December, MIDCON celebrated a whopping 30 years in business.

In the beginning, all MIDCON did was manage complex oil and seismic data. It was such a great fit here in Oklahoma that over the years, they’ve expanded into full-service data management, records storage, and even the destruction of records.

To celebrate their anniversary, MIDCON partnered with AARP Oklahoma and provided a free community shred event on Saturday, December 4, 2021.

That community-minded event was just the latest in years of being community-oriented. Back in October 2021, we published Professional Q&A with Trey Cole, director of MIDCON Data Services. Cole shared, “MIDCON continues to be a proud supporter of the Edmond community. We actively participate and sponsor the Edmond Chamber of Commerce, Edmond Economic Development Authority, Edmond Public School Foundation, and several other local charity organizations.”

As one organization that MIDCON supports, the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce appreciates the community-minded culture that MIDCON exemplifies. “We are proud of the extensive history and partnership between the Chamber and MIDCON,” said Sherry Jordan, CEO of the chamber. “It is a community-minded organization that has contributed to the growth and quality of life in Edmond. We look forward to many more years of its innovative and resilient business model.”

Another organization MIDCON has supported is the Edmond Economic Development Authority. Steve Kreidler, former director of the EEDA, appreciates the impact MIDCON has had on Edmond and Oklahoma as a whole.

“Randy was intrigued by the concept of aggregating like-minded firms into a geographic area in order to share resources, learn from each other, develop supply chains, and build a solid job base to support an exceptional quality of life for his current and future employees,” Kreidler shared. “Little could I have known back then what an impact that Randy and MIDCON would make on Edmond and the entire state. Randy became the epitome of civil leadership, an employer of choice, and the best cheerleader for Edmond’s progress as a major city.”

In addition to being in business since 1991, MIDCON has been a member of the Edmond Chamber since 1995, and founder Randy Allen was the 2004 Edmond Chamber Citizen of the Year. In addition, MIDCON holds the current record for the number of former Chamber Chairmen of the Board, including Allen, Greg Blakely, Darren Helm, and Carl Tipton.
