Daily Living Centers announces new president and CEO

Amanda Dirmeyer, M.Ed, has been promoted to Daily Living Centers President and Chief Executive Officer.

DLC is a local nonprofit facility that provides affordable and reliable services for caregivers who need extra support and participants who need a safe space for engagement, interaction, or rest. DLC Daily offers an alternative to nursing homes and other long-term care options.

Dirmeyer has been on staff with DLC for over four years and has held various roles, including Social Service Coordinator, Director of Development and Social Services, and Vice President of Development and Social Services.

Her journey with DLC began in 2008 when she completed her graduate school practicum and realized how special the organization was. Dirmeyer feels honored to have the opportunity to lead such an incredible organization and considers it a full-circle moment.

Serving older adults and adults with disabilities is one of Dirmeyer’s life’s passions, and she hopes to continue the positive impact on the lives of numerous families in the community.

Vibes Artist Market this Thursday

VIBES Edmond’s First Thursday event will be held on May 4, showcasing 21 virtual artists who will sell their work at Vibes Artist Market in the northern part of Downtown Edmond, Oklahoma.

The Edmond Fine Arts Institute will also host the 2023 5×5 Show and Sale and a Gallery Opening featuring local artist Jack Fowler.

There will also be performances by the Kentucky Daisy Band, Katie Bradford, Tyler Boren, and the Japan-American Taiko Drum Team.

The event is free and family-friendly and supported by several local businesses.

Plans underway to increase activities at Arcadia Lake

Edmond is collaborating with The Land Plan Consulting Group of Tulsa to create a master plan for the future development of Arcadia Lake.

This plan includes adding hiking trails, an equestrian-friendly area, and a restaurant on the lake. The plan could include upgrades and renovations to enhance the park’s amenities and appeal to tourists, such as adding hiking trails, an equestrian-friendly area, and a restaurant on the lake.

The city is now determining how much can be invested and taking steps to make the dreams for the lake come true. Consultants will consider factors such as feasibility, cost, and maintenance when creating the plan, which could take up to a year to complete.

The project is seen as an investment in the city’s economic future, with Arcadia Lake being a significant regional attraction.
