Farmers Market open indoors, offers online ordering

Oklahoma's freshest produce and manufactured food items can be found at the Edmond Farmers Market.

Where can you find the absolute freshest produce short of growing it in your own backyard? At the Edmond Winter Farmers Market every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon indoors at the Edmond Senior Center in Mitch Park.

Shoppers can purchase food that was picked the night before or even at 4 a.m. that morning before it’s loaded on the truck to come to the Farmers Market.

“It’s just so neat to see the families and individuals that come out and how appreciative they are of what we have to offer them,” said Diane Self, Parks and Recreation Manager.  “The appreciation comes from the standpoint that they know the quality of the items they’re purchasing.”

A diverse array of food is sold from local vendors, such as Earth Shelter Garden Project, Whitmore Farms, Indigo Acres, Boutique Bous, Tall Girl Specialty Pasta, i’s Bakery, Don’s Produce, Papa J’s BBQ, Renrick’s Farm and Garden, and Onawa Soaps.

Oklahoma’s freshest produce and manufactured food items can be found, including everything from seasonal produce, meat, baked goods, pasta, BBQ sauce, coffee, honey, to many other Made in Oklahoma (MIO) products.

For in-person shopping, COVID-19 protocols for distancing are encouraged, as well as temperatures are taken upon entry. Everyone over the age of 11 is required to wear a face covering.

For those who enjoy ordering online, there’s an app for that. Create an account at https://sourcewhatsgood.com or download the WhatsGood app. You can purchase items from your favorite vendors and pick them up during market hours. Periodic discounts are offered through the app, so follow the Edmond Farmers Market on Facebook or Instagram for news and promotions.

“We like having families come, but we want to obviously have them here at their comfort level. But we do enjoy having the families, having the kids come so that they can learn about where their food comes,” said Self. “And our vendors deeply appreciate the shoppers who come out and support them at the market.”
