Local business owner president of School Photographers of America

School Photographers of America is an organization that advocates and acts as a support group for school photographers. Recently they elected long-time Edmond resident Doyce Crandall as their new president.

Crandall has been in the school photography business for over twenty years. She is the owner of Focused School Photography, serving schools in the Oklahoma City metro and surrounding areas. Their school photography services include portraits, sports, special events, and more.

School Photographers of America formed when the COVID-19 pandemic forced the entire US to close schools in March of 2020. The vision was that the industry would be protected and preserved for many years to come. In fact, in just the past year, School Photographers of America has hosted online training for school photographers and plans to hold in-person events once the pandemic is over.

The organization’s mission is to advocate on behalf of its members and protect their copyrights, as well as establish and govern healthy standards and best practices for the school photography industry. They provide several online resources, including career opportunities, a service for others to find a school photographer, a list of preferred partners, industry news, and more.

Crandall is confident that School Photographers of America will continue to grow as they move forward into the future. “It is a huge honor to help lead the School Photographers of America,” she said, “not only to capture memories for families, but also to be able to support schools and all of the needs they have, including security, identification, and photo preservation. I look forward to being a part of keeping the legacy of school pictures alive for many generations to come.”
