This holiday season multiple cities are uniting to welcome Route 66 travelers! Edmond has 13.4 miles along Route 66 and the Mother Road is getting more and more popular as Route 66 Centennial in 2026 draws near. As part of Route 66 Midpoint Corridor, 11 cities from Edmond to Sapulpa are partnering to promote “The Best 100 Miles of Route 66.”

Families want to experience Main Street America in smaller cities to enjoy charming downtowns, lighted local shops, and hallmark-like events. These holiday themes will entice visitors to shop, dine and play:

  1. Edmond – Miracle on 2nd Street
  2. Arcadia – Winter Wonderland
  3. Luther – Luwhotherville
  4. Wellston – Land of Misfit Toys
  5. Chandler – North Pole
  6. Davenport – Small Town Christmas
  7. Stroud – Illuminated Elf
  8. Depew – Memories of the Mother Road
  9. Bristow – Cowboy Christmas
  10. Kellyville – Pony Express
  11. Sapulpa Christmas Chute (featured on Today Show last year)

Edmond’s Miracle on 2nd Street planning is led by local leaders from Downtown Edmond Business Association, Citizens Bank, City of Edmond, Visit Edmond, Frenzy Brewery, Edmond History Museum, University of Central Oklahoma, Arcadia Lake, Jasco Lights, and Edmond Fine Arts. The coordinated holiday “lights on” in Edmond will be on November 12th after Deck the Downtown tree lighting. You will notice more lights on businesses, city streets, and attractions along 2nd Street like downtown, UCO and Arcadia Lake.

Edmond corporations are contributing creative ideas. For example, Jasco Products Company donated lights to help 12 local businesses shine. Thomas Blonde luxury fragrance offered to brand their Palm Desert candle. Cherami Thomas said, “The Route 66 Miracle on 2nd Street label helps shoppers buy local and spread holiday spirit!” Several local stores including Parcel, Abide Interiors, Silver Leaf Gems, Muse and Lu Lu & Lo’s are selling these co-branded candles.

From the Edmond Ice Rink and Luminance light displays to the Turkey Trot and Santa sightings, there’s something for everyone.
